Important: The following information only applies to Synod-managed laptops and devices
To strengthen our cybersecurity, we are introducing a new tool called ThreatLocker. From 10 October 2025, ThreatLocker will control which desktop applications can be used on Synod devices, ensuring only safe and approved software is allowed.
Using ThreatLocker helps us keep important data and systems safe. By blocking unsafe programs, it lowers the chance of data breaches, ransomware, and other online threats. In a world where cyber risks are always changing, ThreatLocker provides a simple and reliable way to protect computers and digital information.
What you will notice
- If an application is blocked, a notification will appear in your system tray (bottom right corner).
- You can submit a request for access if the application is needed for your work.
What happens next
- The helpdesk reviews your request.
- The application is checked for security and suitability.
- If approved, it will be enabled for use.
Why this matters
- Protects Synod systems and information from unsafe software.
- Ensures we use trusted tools that meet security standards.
