Culture Of Safety Releases Inclusivity Posters
The Uniting Church is proudly inclusive of all people. This flows inevitably from our belief that every person is made in the image of God and therefore holds intrinsic value.
The Uniting Church is proudly inclusive of all people. This flows inevitably from our belief that every person is made in the image of God and therefore holds intrinsic value.
We understand and acknowledge that inclusivity requires a real welcome.
However, our commitment to welcome does not mean that abuse, bullying, sexual harassment or any other harmful behaviour will be tolerated.
To communicate these important principles, the Culture of Safety team have developed a poster containing a short statement of inclusivity.
We thank Glenbrook Congregation for sharing the language they use and their model of having a different person in the community read the statement each week when they gather.
Your Congregation may choose to display the poster, include the slide in your announcements, post the image to social media or even read out the statement during your gatherings.
The Synod’s Future Directions specifically reference the importance of considering how we welcome and engage with young people, First Nations people and people from diverse backgrounds.
Being intentional in the way we develop and demonstrate inclusivity is critical to our welcome.
This statement is just a symbol and reminder of how we, as a people of God on the way, show love to those around us.
